 2 November 2011

Very foggy start to the day -- watch where you step, and update your calendars with more schoolish things.

And More...

Colleges See and Are Seen
The NACAC Fair is this weekend at the Convention Center, so college reps are in town and want to meet potential students. Coming to Center School this week:

Thursday: Art Center College of Design - Pasadena, CA (on balcony during lunch) Visit with Nicola Vruwink, Associate Director of Admissions. "Learn to create. Influence change. This is our mission at Art Center College of Design." More information: Art Center College

Friday: Naropa University – Boulder, Colorado (on balcony during lunch.) Visit with Kelly Tweet who will also be at the NACAC Fair. "The pursuit of wisdom at Naropa University means learning both about academic subjects and about one's own place in the world." More information: Naropa

And in another application of a Snow Day, because of the unusually early snowstorms on the east coast, many schools have extended their deadline of November 1, 2011 for early decision applications. Don't assume your choice is part of the group -- check the link of the NACAC website: Application Deadline Delay

Senior Families Meeting
from Paul Dieter
It's time we gathered for a quick meeting to outline current and future projects. Prom looks to be well on its way and the Alumni Brunch will be on us as quickly as the holidays. Submissions for this year's School Logo Wear should be submitted by Thanksgiving and we can work on producing it for Christmas orders. The senior class has outlined some very good fundraising plans but there's certainly room for more ideas, please come and share yours. This meeting is open to senior students as well as interested parents and should wrap up in a quick hour. Contact Paul Dieter csca@me.com with any replies, questions or requests for a parking pass for the evening. Senior Events Meeting, 7 pm, Tuesday 15 November, Seattle Center House.

It isn't every school dance that gets covered in the local daily paper -- check out the Seattle Times piece on the Center School Halloween dance at Seattle Times goes to the dance

Do you have an idea for a BLAST article?
We want to know what you know, and we want to know what you need. Send us your specific content, or your ideas for content. If you have Blast content to get out this week - please submit it by Friday at 3 pm. The Blast goes out late Sunday night, and covers school life for the following week.

Things we like to know:
- School News, in and out of the building
- Opportunities for Center School students (volunteering, classes, performances, etc)
- Student, staff and faculty accomplishments beyond the school.
- And the ever-favorite "misc."

By now you've seen the motley collection of stuff that qualifies for the Blast -- if you've got something that fits that very elastic category, send it in. Make sure you tell me what's going on, where and when it's happening, and how to get in touch with the people involved, if participation is the goal. And let me know how long you think it should run.

To submit news, events, or calendar items to be included in the Blast, send an email with subject line "News" to submitarticle@csca.thecenterschool.net.
