And More

Congratulations to Us!
The Center School won top honors from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, receiving their Washington Achievement Award in both Overall Excellence and Special Recognition - Improvment. The recognition is based on the Achievement Index, "a comprehensive measurement of Washington schools' performance over time." For more information on the award, check the OSPI website.

Sound Off Semifinals
Don't forget to come out this Saturday 11 February, 8 pm, to support the Unibroz (packed with current and former Center School denizens) and their appearance at the Experience Music Project's battle of the bands, Sound Off. Check here for more details.

Senior Service Project
Seniors need to keep collecting pledges for their upcoming habitat restoration project on 31 March at a Duwamish River park. Organizer Paul Dieter has asked for some parent participation in this as well -- if you've got some time you could give for organization or supervision, please contact him at riverwader@mac.com -- otherwise, take a look at the website for more information, including a downloadable pledge form.

Looking to Make Some Music?
The Soundboard is a place to get information on all-ages events and gigs in the Northwest.

An Entertainment Dilemma
This coming weekend, not only is the Varsity Theater showing their Oscar Nominated Shorts programs (one for live-action and one for animation), but the Seattle International Film Festival starts their Looney Tunes Fest -- a weekend full of Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian, Yosemite Sam -- you get the picture. How can we choose between them?

Do you have an idea for a BLAST article?
We want to know what you know, and we want to know what you need. Send us your specific content, or your ideas for content. If you have Blast content to get out this week - please submit it by Friday at 3 pm. The Blast goes out late Sunday night, and covers school life for the following week.

Things we like to know:
- School News, in and out of the building
- Opportunities for Center School students (volunteering, classes, performances, etc)
- Student, staff and faculty accomplishments beyond the school.
- And the ever-favorite "misc."

By now you've seen the motley collection of stuff that qualifies for the Blast -- if you've got something that fits that very elastic category, send it in. Make sure you tell me what's going on, where and when it's happening, and how to get in touch with the people involved, if participation is the goal. And let me know how long you think it should run.

To submit news, events, or calendar items to be included in the Blast, send an email with subject line "News" to submitarticle@csca.thecenterschool.net.
