Guest Artist: ELLEN ZIEGLER
Visual Journal workshop
An intense introduction to keeping a visual journal as part of your daily creative expression. Learn to discover your visual "voice"!
As a professional artist and designer, I keep a journal of every weird little thing that I find interesting: found objects, photos, quotes, images from publications... I am always amazed to see how much of it finds its way into my work. And how inspired I can be by something that caught my eye months or years ago.
I'll show examples of visual journals from all over the world, and demonstrate collage techniques. Most of our time will be spent working in journals provided -- or you can bring your own to work in if you have one.
Materials will be provided, but you may want to bring:
- images you've saved from magazines or newspapers
- old letters or photos
- favorite quotes
- fabric scraps
- colored paper
- your favorite pens, paints, pencils
- anything that's been lying around that is too interesting to throw out but you don't know why you still have it...
