THIS WEEK AT CENTER SCHOOL Freshman Introductory Session Wednesday Sept 9 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm TCS A time for freshman to have TCS to themselves for a few hours.

TCS Retreat Wednesday Sept 9 thru Friday Sept 11 for seniors Thursday Sept 10 thru Friday Sept 11 for freshmen, sophomores, juniors 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at The Center School Attendance at the retreat is mandatory for all students. Retreat venue has been changed from offsite to TCS and environs.
CSCA Board Meeting Tuesday, September 15th – 6:30 pm We welcome and encourage all to attend the CSCA board meetings, however time and location of each meeting changes. We typically have potluck dinner meetings (in different homes) and need to ensure space and food for all wishing to attend. If you are interested in attending the September meeting, please contact Kelly Van Gelder: kellyvangelder@comcast.net.
The refrigerator in the Commons is no longer functioning. TCS is seeking donation of a replacement fridge as well as volunteers to haul away the old one. Students use the refrigerator to keep their lunches fresh.
VOLUNTEER AT TCS Wanted: Front Desk Volunteers The front desk needs volunteers for filing, some data entry and cleaning the commons area (where the kids eat and hang out). Please contact Libby or Kathy 206-252-9850.
DISTRICT NEWS Bus Passes Please note that the September 9 bus passes sent by the District are only good on September 9, and students must pay bus fare if their first day is September 10. September Metro passes will be provided to students at TCS on their first day of school.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS Seattle Public Library Teen Opportunities Although, we are closed without pay from August 31st to September 7th we are still offering students some great free services this fall. We currently have slots still available in our free SAT prep. We are also doing a teen advisory board again this school year, if you know teens who might want to earn their service learning credit writing book reviews, helping at teen programs, and writing for our blog send them our way. Finally, we are pleased to be able to continue to offer free online tutoring It is still available in both English and Spanish but they have also added a college, career, and standardized testing portions. Remember you must have a current Seattle Public Library card and pin to access this database.
P.E. OPPORTUNITIES Girl’s Volleyball Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30pm to 5:00 pm Queen Anne Community Center, 1901 1st Ave W Calling All High School Girls: We will be forming a volleyball team at Queen Anne Community Center, 1901 1st Ave (1block west of Metropolitan Market on the top of Queen Anne.) Seattle Artifice Co. is a new, community-based enterprise interested in providing a gallery to Seattle’s artistic youth (age 24 and under only). All submissions will be reviewed by an art committee and approved submissions shall be exhibited for sale at Seattle Artifice Co. located in the historic Pike Place Market.
