CSCA 2010-2011 - BLAST | The Center School Newsletter 2010-2011
6 September 2010

Here are a few more bits of information about the first week of school -- if you have questions or suggestions just speak up and I’ll do what I can. The email list for the Blast is always open for new subscriptions, or to change your connection.  If you’re part of a family that doesn’t want to get its information via email, or you’re concerned that someone else is missing their connection to the school, please let me know.

Dear Center School Families,

Packets

Some Packets did not contain the CSCA information.  That information is available to be printed at home at:

http://www.centerschoolseattle.org/involved/default.html

under the heading back to school packets.

If your packet got lost in the transition home, or you were unable to pick one up, additional ones are available at school.

Volunteering

9/8 Wednesday:

 * Have a few hours to give to The Center School in the next couple of weeks?  The front desk is looking for extra help to organize start of year paperwork.  Whether you can help for an hour or an afternoon, we can find a job for you!  And, just maybe, if you'll like it so much you'll find yourself coming back for more!  This is a great way to help out and see a new side of Center (the inside!).  Contact Ms. Libby at 206 252-9850 or easimeon@seattleschools.org to let her know when you can stop in.

* Ever dreamed of making teenagers happy?  Come to school around 1:30 and stay until 3:00 and become our ice cream man or woman.  Help hand out ice cream treats after a day of team building.  Benefit, your student's new friends will now associate you with something happy and wonderful.  Additional benefit, you can escort your student home and drill them about their first day while they are under the influence of a sweet treat.  Qualifications:  None.

* Prep for barbecue.  Cut watermelon and prepare any other food stuffs for CSCA Sponsored BBQ for Thursday.  (Can easily be combined with another job)

9/9 Thursday:

* Prep for barbecue.  Cut more watermelon and deliver to grill site.

* Set up Food Distribution area

* All day or during the BBQ (10-1:30), the team building (1:30-3) or pitch in for a hour...

This is a great way to meet other parents, your student's teachers and become a known commdodity with the faculty and staff and generally improve the experience of our students as they start out the year.  We cannot make this happen without the help and support of our family members.

Please let Audrey Kaplan, our volunteer coordinator, know how you can help by emailing her at <centerschoolvolunteers@gmail.com> today.

Thank you,

Sabrina
