CSCA 2010-2011 - BLAST | The Center School Newsletter 2010-2011

Another Blast with a chunk of “remember to…” items, as well as an apology for the erratic nature of our email delivery this week – we’re having a difference of opinion with AOL, which meant we had to use several other methods to get our news out.  We are (I hope!) back on track now.

Enough of that.  As usual, if you have questions, comments or suggestions, don’t hesitate to let us know.

Please make sure that you’ve gone over the “Student Handbook Verification Form” and return it (signed!) to the front desk.  And please have them bring the “CSCA Directory Form” to their first period teachers.  The directory is the best way that we all have to contact each other – parents, students and teachers – the more complete it is, the more useful it can be.

[a hint about schedules – the Student Planners that were distributed last week have school holidays (early dismissals and other schedule-shifting events) as well as scheduled school community meetings and other clues as to the lives your students live while they’re at school]

School Photo Make-up Day

Missed the original day, or have a truly dismal photo?  Retakes are Wednesday, September 29.  Order forms are at the front desk.

Curriculum Night

Thursday, September 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Meet teachers, hear about their plans for your students, sit in chairs that are much more comfortable than the ones you had in high school.

Center School Community Open House

Sunday, October 3, 4:30 p.m.  A chance to see other Center School families and hear a bit about the CSCA plans for the upcoming year.  At the home of Paul and Cindy Dieter (4060 - 39th Ave. SW. 206-935-0934).  Click here for the pretty invitation: Fall General CSCA Membership Meeting on October 3rd, 4-6 pm or here for Event Details

Coming Soon at the Center School

MAP Testing

from Geraldine Carroll

Your student should have brought home a letter from the school on Monday regarding the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.  All 9th graders will sit for the MAP test in the next few weeks.  Testing will begin at 8:00 AM on the assigned dates.  Please note the early start—8:00 AM allows for an adequate period to complete the test and also allows us to start classes at our regular 9:25 time.  Please be sure your student is at school in time for testing.

We are grouping students by Humanities teacher.  Please note when your student will be testing:

All of Ms. Carroll’s Humanities 9th graders:

            Tuesday, 9/28 and Thursday, 9/30

All of Ms. Pritchard’s Humanities and Language Arts 9th graders:

            Friday, 10/1 and Tuesday, 10/5

Ms. Storey’s Humanities classes only:

            Wednesday, 10/6 and Thursday, 10/7

Special Schedule

Don’t forget next week is a four-day week, with block scheduling for Monday-Thursday.

Last, But Not Least

More Free Art
