CSCA 2010-2011 - BLAST | The Center School Newsletter 2010-2011

7 November 2010

Another shortened week, another special schedule.  Thursday is Veteran’s Day, a federal holiday as well as all the rest, so there is no school and there is no mail, and consequently, no bills.

Enjoy the break!

As usual, questions or comments -- just send them along.

Still interested in Costa Rica?

Please email Jose Murphy at jmmurphy@seattleschools.org ASAP and let him know that a trip to the lush tropical rainforests of Costa Rica is imminent.

Induging Your Inner Rock Star

Rock School has after school rock band and guitar lessons at several local high schools and would like to put together a program at the Center School.  They could do guitar lessons for 3-6 kids for $50/month per student on Tuesday or Thursday for 1 ½ hour or Rock Band (up to 2 bands at a time) on Thursday or Friday. At this point, we are just putting out feelers to see if there is sufficient interest at Center School before we look into the logistics of putting this together.  There will be sign up sheets at school to solicit interest.  Or email Julie Vergeront at jvergeront@yahoo.com

Last, But Not Least

Picasso in Seattle

In case you have missed their massive ad campaign, the Seattle Art Museum has scored a major coup with a truly significant collection of works by Pablo Picasso, on loan from the Musée National Picasso in Paris.  The exhibit runs until January 17, but on Friday, December 10 it’s free for students as part of SAMs Teen Night Out program.  You need a timed ticket to get into the gallery, but you can get that online, along with lots of additional information at their website www.seattleartmuseum.org or www.PicassoinSeattle.org

And if you don’t want to wait that long, the museum will be open this Thursday (Veteran’s Day)
