Among all the other activities this week, Saturday and Sunday is the annual Streetfair in the University District. For all your craft, street-food and sidewalk musician needs! So after you send in your Blast content, go have a lemonade and listen to something funky. Comments, questions, etc? Just ask... sandi kurtz submitarticle@csca.thecenterschool.net sandik@drizzle.com 206-523-6553 Artrageous -- ArtsFest 2011 from Margaret Chodos-Irvine, Center School Arts Liason As members of the Center School High School's extended family, I would like to invite you to attend this year's Arts Showcase event, Artrageous! This is the main event of the year where the Center School students get to show off all their creativity and hard work in the Arts. Showcased pieces will include pieces in Visual Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Film and Poetry, as well as samples of arts integration projects in all disciplines. The Arts Showcase will take place at the Center School on Thursday, May 19th, from 6 - 9 pm. There will also be items for sale to benefit the school, including a series of hand-silk-screened posters by the 2011 Center School Flatstock Crew. (Loretta Aho, Ella Chodos-Irvine, Dana Keyes-Gibbons, Catherine Quinn, Pliny Stevens, Skye Stewart) These are beautiful, hand-silk-screened, signed, limited-edition pieces of art created by a select group of talented and hard-working students. Great art for your home, and better than a poster of Johnny Depp on your child's wall. The purchase price is $25 each, so remember to bring CASH or your checkbook to the event so you can buy one, two, three, or all six! And the junior class will be selling pizza, baked goods, and drinks at Arts Showcase. Veraci Pizza in Ballard is helping the class provide their award wining wood fired pizza for the evening. Please consider helping the class of 2012 raise funds for their senior year at Center School by planning on eating your dinner at Arts Showcase. http://csca.thecenterschool.net/all-events/tcs-arts-showcase-2011.html DANCE This Summer Training Sessions DANCE This, the youth dance program run by the Seattle Theater Group, has two workshop sessions running this summer. The Intensive, held at the Pacific Northwest Ballet Studios June 20-July 1, gives young dancers (ages 13-22) a two-week immersion experience in a variety of dance styles. The Camp, at Centrum/Fort Worden in Port Townsend, August 7-13, is geared to high school students who would like to study in a residential setting. Scholarships are available to both programs, and no prior experience is necessary. Early bird registration ends on May 20. Send us your specific content, or your ideas for content. If you have Blast content to get out this week - please submit it by Friday at 3 pm. Things we like to know: School News, in and out of the building Opportunities for Center School students (volunteering, classes, performances, etc) Student, staff and faculty accomplishments beyond the school. And the ever-favorite other stuff. By now you've seen the motley collection of stuff that qualifies for the Blast -- if you've got something that fits that very elastic category, send it in. Make sure you tell me what's going on, where and when it's happening, and how to get in touch with the people involved, if participation is the goal. And let me know how long you think it should run. To submit news, events, or calendar items to be included in the Blast, send an email with subject line "News" to submitarticle@csca.thecenterschool.net.
