| If your student is interested in taking college courses while they're still enrolled in high school, the Running Start program will let them have access to classes at state community colleges, like Seattle Central. First things first -- they must be a junior or a senior to participate, and they must have passed the Compass test in order to register. Registration for Fall 2011 quarter opens up on May 1, 2011, so talk with Ms Sanusi, and check out the details at: http://seattlecentral.edu/runstart/index.php or call: 206-587-3820. |

| Students can visit classes at the University of Washington on a drop-in basis --there’s a wide variety of courses and classroom situations. This could be a good spring break activity... Check out the options at: http://admit.washington.edu/files/PDFs/Drop-In_Course_List.pdf. |

I have been visiting The Center School's Junior classes and inviting them to Monday, March 28's College Planning Day-a college fair that will be held at SPU. A school bus was donated to us so we are going! Ms. Sanusi and I can take up to 40 students, some will be undecided seniors but most participants will be juniors.
Rather than tables of representatives, there will be short presentations full of great information about course offerings, admission procedures, tuition, campus life and more. There will be time for questions and answers as well. Additional permission slips are available at the school office.
Due to the limit of 40 students, please know that there will also be another college fair that is scheduled for Saturday, March 26th at Seattle U's Connolly Center. There will be over 100 colleges, universities and community colleges represented. Parents and guardians are welcome and it is free! For more information on this March 26th college fair, please go to http://www.pnacac.org |
